Hectic preparations are on for the launch of a political party by Chiranjeevi with his close aides organizing meetings with people from various walks of life. There are indications that the mega star of Telugu cinema, who has acted in nearly 150 films, will announce his foray into politics sometime next month. While his younger brother Nagendra Babu has been holding meetings with the members of fans associations, a close confidante Dr Mitra has been supervising training programmes for the potential cadre.
Babu has already toured the state to take feedback from the fans and to prepare them for the actor's political plunge. He recently announced that his elder brother would reveal his plans in August. Dr Mitra, a gastroenterologist by profession and son of veteran Communist leader late P Sundaraiah, has been interacting with leaders of Left parties and representatives from various professions like lawyers, doctors, teachers, women activists and students.
Dr Mitra, a close family friend of Chiranjeevi is said to be playing a key role in formulating the policies and programmes of the new party, though he describes himself as one among millions of Chiranjeevi's fans. "Chiranjeevi said he himself would announce his decision. Let's respect it. It's a courtesy. When he makes the announcement, it will be crystal clear. There will be no ambiguity," said Mitra to reporters on the sidelines of an orientation programme for members of Mahila Vaaradhi.
