The AP High Court stayed all criminal proceedings launched against former film actress Rajani by assistant commissioner of police in Hyderabad . Justice Tamada Gopala Krishna, while hearing a criminal petition filed by Rajani, gave notice to her mother-in-law Mullagiri Meramma asking her to explain why the petition filed against her should not be admitted, and stayed all further criminal proceedings against the actress. Rajani was a popular Telugu film heroine till she got married to one D M Praveen of Hyderabad on November 22, 1998. She stopped acting in films after her marriage.
Citing extreme physical and mental harassment from her husband and her in-laws, Rajani applied for a divorce before the city family court. The court, following non appearance of her husband, granted her an ex parte divorce on April 1, 2008. Rajani and her husband have three flats in the city. After divorce, Rajani took up the responsibility of bringing up her three children with the rent from one of the flats while staying in another. In February this year, her husband transferred the ownership of the two flats to his mother. Following this, they even obtained an interim injunction from city civil court in May this year, the actress alleged.
