Juicy “J” spices Congress

Vijayawada: The Congress leaders in the State are now getting busy to assess the candidatures of the leading women to head the State Mahila Congress wing. The glamour attached to “J” is watering the mouths of the Congress leaders. After Jamuna (J), the Mahila Congress is now set to be headed by one more women from the silver screen. The race for the top slot started with yesteryear heroine, Jeevitha, joining the Congress. Her candidature was considered to be the best choice to face the film glamour of Chiranjeevi and Telugu Desam’s women wing chief, R K Roja. However, the Congress has yet another actress, Jayasudha, to be suitable for the slot. Jayasudha is best known as the family heroine and represents most of the rural young girls and housewives because of her roles opposite Sobhan Babu and ANR. Now, her candidature is being considered to woo the women during the elections. Meanwhile, glamorous lady, Jayaprada, had met the Chief Minister recently, giving enough hints of returning to the State politics. She had left the State before 2004 elections after she was denied renomination by the Telugu Desam for the Rajya Sabha. Jayaprada played an important role during the 1994 elections and was rewarded with Rajya Sabha ticket. However, she could not get renomination and quit TD to join the Samajwadi Party of Mulayam. Now that Rajasekhar Reddy has emerged as national hero like Mulayam, Lalu, (who were also chief ministers of their States in the past) Jayaprada is believed to have found a great support in YS. If she returns to the State politics and joins Congress, she is sure of becoming the Mahila Congress chief. It is now to be seen how Jeevitha and Jayasudha react to Jayaprada’s return to the State.
