Shobhana’s passion for dance has overridden her love for acting, as she is quick to say that dance is all that she has time for right now. “No movies in hand as of now. I am busy with my musical Maya ravan,”says Shobhana A path breaking interpretation of the epic Ramayana, conceived, interpreted and choreographed by Shobhana, Maya Ravan, has toured all over the US. “I’m preparing for its pan-India tour now,” she says.
Preparing for her upcoming performance in city, as part of Banyan Tree Events’ Barkha Ritu, a national monsoon music festival, Actress Shobhana the actress is in a mood to celebrate the much-awaited monsoon, which is finally here. “Monsoon, like any other gift of nature, must be relished. It’s a joy and should be treated like that. It’s the season of romance, new creation, freshness. And this performance is perhaps my way of celebrating it.”
Known for the innovation she brings to her performances, Shobhana has something different planned for her Hyderabadi audiences too. “It’s a performance in Bharatnatyam with the monsoon as the theme. Thematic performances are always nice because in this day and age of materialism and the endless grind in front of the computers, they bring in us a sense of time. It’s like getting in touch with our own being and the poetic side of our otherwise mundane lives,” she says.
