Aamir had hitherto been the perfectionist, being extremely choosy about scripts and starring in one or two movies a year. Usually these movies turned out to be super hits, and they dealt with unique story ideas.
Shah Rukh Khan on the other hand was out and out a commercial cinema star signing up for many releases a year, usually in the romantic comedy genre.
But this year, the roles are reversed. After last year’s release Om Shanti Om, Shah Rukh Khan has no major releases this year except for a cameo in Billo Barber and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi to arrive in 2009.
Aamir Khan has amazingly turned prolific and has quite a few releases ahead. He has at least four movies lined up in the near future. ‘Ghajini’ is slated for a Christmas release. Soon after, ‘3 Idiots’ will hit the market, followed by a sequel of comedy ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ and a home production thriller to top it all. Aamir’s fans will get to see him more than ever before in the months to come.
This role reversal has puzzled fans. Apparently the steam engine has slowed down in the case of Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan on the other hand is cashing on the best period of his career.
Shah Rukh Khan’s famous words will now stand the test of time when he said: “Aamir will always be a better actor than me, and I will always earn more than him.”
