Kalki Koechlin, who made her debut as Chanda in Dev D, and actor Prashant Prakash have won the MetroPlus Playwright Award 2009 for their co-authored entry Skeleton Woman.
This award has been instituted by The Hindu for the best original, unpublished and unperformed English script and carries a prize of Rs. 1 lakh.
Prakash, a graduate in English literature from Mumbai, has co-written a short play, The Block, and acted in productions such as Numbers in the Dark and Hair.
Koechlin , a graduate in Drama and Theatre Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London, worked with a theatre company called Theatre of Relativity for two years, where she performed in David Hare’s The Blue Room, Marivaux’s The Dispute and a devised play The Rise of the Wild Hunt.
