The co-producers of 'Slumdog Millionaire' after getting inspired from the success of "The Secret Millionaire" reality Television show in United Kingdom are gearing up for starting a show set in India. In the successful program in U.K. some of the richest personalities came out of their routine posh lifestyle and were placed in very poor areas under a new identity. Going by the nature of the intended show in India, feels that the seeds for a controversy are being sown. In the intended show, rich people will visit the Mumbai slums posing as ordinary folks and help the poor. Once the program starts to be transmitted in India, there is a good chance for these questions to be asked. First, whether the poor and underprivileged living in the slums of Mumbai are living there for being exhibited and two, if at all they need to be helped, why through a television reality show. The co-producers of the film are currently planning to start the reality show as soon as possible so that they will be able to utilise the immense popularity of 'Slumdog Millionaire' for the success of the show. Such exploitation of the poor for publicity? | |
