With his tantalising dance moves in films like 'Arya', 'Bunny', 'Happy Days' and 'Parugu', young star Allu Arjun earned the fame that he was one of the best dancers in Telugu cinema. In his latest film Arya2, Arjun has performed near-impossible dancing. Yes, some of them you can't believe with your eyes. We call for suspension of disbelief.

In songs like Guppedantha gunde premaki and at the beginning of the song Ringa ringa, his dance is simply amazing. You will say the 'ekalavya shishya' of Michael Jackon, to whom he has dedicated the movie, is, by any standard, one of the most amazing dancers in South India.

Arjun recently confessed that he learnt dance mostly by himself, by hanging to the wall of his practice room, the photos of his three biggest idols - Chiranjeevi, Michael Jackson and Prabhu Deva. After watching Arya2, you will say that Prabhu Deva and Chiranjeevi will openly speak big of him.

In fact, one of the biggest high points of Arya2 is his dance.

Lover Boy Siddarth New Movie to become Baava

Tollywood lover boy Siddarth is currently doing a film with director Prakash s/o Dr. K. Raghavendra rao. Bikini babe Shruti Hassan is pairing with him in this Socio fantasy film. Before completing this film Siddarth got another offer from producer M. L. Kumar Chowdary. It is learnt that ‘Baava’ is the title registered by the producer.

This film will be made under Keerti Creations banner and a new director Ram Babu will be given chance to direct this film. He had experience as an assistant director to Prabhudeva and Kodi Rama Krishna The shooting of this film will start from January next year.

Namo Venkatesa Audio Launch on December 13th

The audio of Venkatesh starrer Namo Venkatesa will be launched in a grand ceremony on December 13th. Trisha plays the female lead opposite Venkatesh. The film is directed by Srinu Vytla. Devi Sri Prasad is composing music for this movie. Namo Venkatesa is produced under 14 Reels Entertainment and presented by Suresh Babu.

Namo Venkatesa is said to complete family entertainer with all commercial ingredients. Ace comedian Brahmanandam plays a pivotal role in the film. Almost 85% of film shooting has been completed and is gearing up to release for Sankranthi, January 14th.

If, not mistaken Karthika has to act nude in some scenes, as the story demands for posing nude for making artistic portraits by famous painter Raja Ravi Varma. So far, Karthika is telling one and all that there would be no such scenes in the film and in case there are such scenes she will not act nude. Genelia Katha hit screens on Dec 4th

Rajinikanth in Tamil version of Leader

Sekhar Kammula is making the film “Leader” in Telugu in which Rana, grand son of D Rama Naidu is making his debut as hero. This film is in the making for sometime and is planned for release in the month of December.

Meanwhile, Tollywood sources say that “Leader” has simultaneously made in Tamil also and that Rajinikanth played the role of Rana in it. However, there is no conformation about this either from director Sekhar Kammula or the producers AVM.

Though no details of the film’s story are made available by its makers, it is believed that it is a political thriller and deals with the evolution of a youth into a leader of people.

Prabhu Deva to remake 'Okkadu'

This will be similar to the popular King Fhisher calander. Shoot was done for Ileana in Goa beach and Shreya in Chennai beach. 'Golimaar' to begin in December

Expect Puri Jagannadh to work with a vengeance next time. As 'Ek Niranjan' nearly bombed at the box office, he is determined to prove his talent in a big way now. Even before Ek Niranjan's release, he had announced a project with Gopichand in the lead. He doesn't like to rest and he is only too eager to go on the floors with a bound script.

As was earlier declared, Gopichand will be seen as an encounter specialist in the movie. So, will he be trigger-happy? Pray that he is not going to be gun-toting in the least.

And if you are questioning what Puri is doing these days, he has air-dashed to Bangkok recently where he is preparing the final version of Golimaar's script. (Puri likes the country very much)

It is known to everyone that Three Angels, owned by Dutt's daughter, which recently produced Banam, is making a film titled Om Shanthi the shooting of which was launched in the first week of November. Pretty girls Kajal Agarwal and Bindu Madhavi will be seen opposite Navdeep and Nikhil.

The film is directed by Prakash, a debutante, who is hopeful that the unique narrative will spell success for his first film. Five lives and five stories are interlaced with the subtext of one truth.

Om Shanthi's audio will be launched on December 5 and the film will be released for Sankranthi (on January 13). The big news is that the film's music is scored by Maestro Illayaraja.

Murli Mohan, Ravi Kale, Rohith Pathak, Raghu Babu, Sunil, Suman Shetty and Shiva Reddy will be seen in the film.

Teja's 'Atu-Itu' starts soon

Director Teja, now better known for his super flops than his initial hits like Nuvvu Nenu and Jayam, has invited aspiring actors to enlist themselves for an audition. The selected members will hopefully act in his home production Atu-Itu which is soon to go on the floors.

The film's title comes as a surprise, not because it is peculiar, but because Teja had earlier announced Flop as the title of his forthcoming movie. We do not know if he has cancelled that one owing to the negativity factor of the title, or if 'Atu-Itu' is another film altogether. Any which way, no one is a bit interested to know what Teja is upto these days.

For the cast, he wants someone in their 18s-20s to apply for the various roles. However, the technical team has been finalised already. Cinematography - Rasool; Music - Kalyan Malik; Lyrics - R Narayana Reddy, Peddada Murthy.

Review

Story

Arya is an orphan and Ajay is his friend in an orphanage. A rich couple visit that orphanage and wanted to adapt one of these two guys. Arya and Ajay use a toss to decide their fortunes. Arya wins, but lets Ajay go as he thinks that friendship is all about giving. Ajay grows up as a rich man and Arya grows up as a poor guy. Ajay starts a software company and Arya joins him as an employee. Geeta is the new employee of the company. Both Ajay and Arya fall in love with her. The rest of the story is all about how these two guys try to make Geeta fall for them.

Artists Performance

Allu Arjun: Allu Arjun is perfect as Arya. His character in the movie has the qualities of a psychotic and he portrayed the character flawlessly. He shined in emotional scenes in the second half of the movie. Allu Arjun is probably the best dancer of current era in Tollywood. That is the reason why he made hugely difficult dances appear fluid and effortless in the first four songs of the movie.

Others: Kajal Agarwal is good as a girl who is not committed to any guy at heart. She rendered the image of a typical confused girl about love. Navadeep is nice as a guy with selfish and practical thinking. He is extremely good with histrionics when he delivers dialogues to Allu Arjun at hospital in the climax scene. Shraddha Das is gorgeous in a brief role. Ajay is excellent as Subba Reddy, mainly due to entertaining characterization. Brahmanandam is partly entertaining. Mukesh Rushi is adequate. An actor with better command on Rayalaseema dialect would have done justice to Sayaji Shinde’s role.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the movie is about the conflict of love (Geeta) and friendship (Ajay) of a confused guy (Arya) with psychotic tendencies caused due to loneliness in life. Making a movie based on such a characterization is a highly risky proposition and director Sukumar partly succeeds in it. Sukumar is basically an intelligent guy with a flair for parallel thinking. His intelligence and creativity is shown in conceiving certain scenes of the movie like

1. Using a bubble gum to decide who is going to be hero’s best friend (just like throwing stone into empty cup in Arya)
2. Hero wearing glasses to see the heroine clearly in his dreaming because heroine appears blurred. (montage shot of 2nd song)
3. Love letter episode
4. The drinking scene between Arya and Subba Reddy
5. With one dialogue (Aayanaku champentha kopam vunte, naaku chachipoyentha prema vundi), the love angle of entire movie is justified.

Sukumar is also extremely good at penning screenplay for some part of the movie. The best example is the way he distributes three characters in a stand-off of second half (like puli, meka, gaddi story we listen when we were kids).

However, there is a major glitch in Arya 2 compared to Arya movie. In Arya movie, hero is shown as a guy with mischief and he sincerely fights for a girl because he loves her. When he wants to chase a girl with sincerity, audience would love it and follow the hero character with empathy. Hence there is emotional involvement for hero’s character from audiences. In Arya 2, hero would be sincerely chasing the girl to take her and give it to his friend. Hence, there in less involvement from audiences point of view. So, there will not be sympathy for hero when he loses girl and there will not be feeling of triumph (from audiences involvement angle) when hero finally gets the girl. Another major obstacle in the movie is the factor of confusion. The character of hero vacillates between the feelings of selfishness and sacrifice throughout the movie. The director cleared the confusion only towards the climax.

Other departments: Songs of Arya 2 are excellent to listen and I was a bit hesitant about director doing justice to the songs on the screen. Sukumar comes up with a fabulous job of canning all the songs with energy and verve. Background music is also good. Cinematography by Rajasekhar is of top class. Credit for lush visuals should also be given to Prime Focus (DI) and Pixelloid (VFX). Dialogues are well written. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is good. Production standards by Aditya Arts banner (Aditya Babu and Bhogavally Prasad) are of top-notch.

Analysis: First half is is not gripping due to lack of conflict point. Around 45 minutes of the movie in first half where Arya tries to make Geeta fall for him appears redundant. Second half is better than the first half. The last 15 minutes is clear as the director reveals the real character of Arya, thus relieving us of confusion. The plus points of the movie are creative scenes, Allu Arjun, songs (dances) and technical values. On the flipside, psychotic orientation and confusion in hero’s characterization doesn’t get audiences involved in the movie intently. The runtime of the movie is also high. On a whole, Arya 2 is a different film that can appeal to A centers and class crowds.

Prabhas Ek Niranjan Crawls-Kurradu Falls

It appears that the Telugu film industry is currently in a dire situation and one look at the box office will give you the picture. Top on the chair is the Hollywood movie ‘2012’ and it has been standing in the same position since last week. Then there is ‘Ek Niranjan’ which has been working real hard to make its presence felt but in vain.

Sources say that even ‘Village Lo Vinayakudu’ has not been able to draw the expected amount of audience. ‘Kurradu’ came in with expectations but crashed miserably at the box office. ‘A Aa E Ee’ came and disappeared in no time. ‘Bendu Apparao RMP’ managed few smiles with success and has made profits.

So now, all eyes are on ‘Arya 2’ that holds some promise and even the Tollywood members are praying it clicks at the box office.

Arjun dedicates Arya 2 to Michael Jackson

A well known Michael Jackson fan in Tollywood, promising hero Allu Arjun has dedicated his much-anticipated action thriller Arya 2, slated for November 27 release, to the late pop icon Michael Jackson.

There is nothing new when Allu Arjun grabs media attention by citing the name of MJ. He recently created headlines by dancing for the tunes of MJ at the Style Scope Award function, saying that that he is a great fan of MJ and Prabhu Deva.

Meanwhile, the premiere show of Arya 2, directed by Sukumar as a sequel to the Telugu blockbuster Arya (2004), will be held tonight (November 26) in a grand manner at Cinemax, Hyderabad. All the cast, crew and bigwigs from Tollywood would attend.

Arya 2 was censored on Monday and awarded with an U/A certificate by the Censor Board. Jointly produced by V. Aditya Babu and Bhogavalli Prasad under the banner of Aditya Arts, the film is a love story set in the backdrop of a murder mystery.

‘Nagarjuna-Tabu’ Love Story As Film

Krishna Nagar is the hub for any film related activity and there are many creative minds always at work there. This time, some of them have teamed up and are looking at coming up with a story, based on the hot gossip of the affair between Nagarjuna and the hefty beauty Tabu.

Currently, the script work is said to be on in one of the offices in Krishna nagar and two writers are working full time to give a shape to it. Though time and again, Nag and Tabu have maintained that they are friends, the writers are keen on giving a romantic touch to their story indicating the two stars.

This has raised concerns among a few in the film circuit as to how this might reflect on the screen. On the other hand, efforts are said to be on to stop this script from being entertained. Well, nothing can be announced till an official confirmation is received on this one.

The film has been given a U/A certificate which means that parental guidance is required. But then, many say that it will be a difficult situation if children ask their mothers the meaning of the line ‘Siggu Guththi tenchesinaaru…’. The song has actually become a mania among the youngsters, especially the kids.

There is also another talk which says that most of the words in the song would create few questions among the kids and given their sharp attention these days, it could become a challenge for the parents to handle the queries. Only time will tell how ‘Ringa Ringa…’ will ring at the box office.

Aamir talks about being an 'idiot' in his next film

Aamir Khan keeps going back to school. He played the truant college boy in Rang De Basanti and the school teacher in Tare Zameen Par, now the 44-year-old Khan morphs into a goofy engineering student in Rajkumar Hirani’s Three Idiots, which hits the screen on December 25.

He teams up with RDB co-stars Madhavan and Sharman Joshi in the new venture. “Since we have worked on an earlier project we get along spontaneously on screen and know what the other person is thinking,” says Khan, sporting his college student look as part of the promotion exercise for his film in Delhi. Madhavan and Joshi, also dressed like their on-screen characters,
however, kept a low profile and left the spotlight free for Khan.

Khan plays a boy in his twenties, an irony that wasn’t lost on the actor. “I am playing someone less than half my age. Unfortunately, I missed out on college life as I was thrust into work soon after Class XII. Deepika Padukone cutting off ties with Ranbir?

Once bitten, twice shy. It seems actress Deepika Padukone is determined to keep a distance from her ex beau Ranbir Kapoor since they broke up recently. And now, she is cutting off all ties with him including professional life.The grapevine is abuzz with the news that a popular filmmaker approached Deepika to act in his film.

However, she turned down the offer simply because he was planning to cast her ex beau Ranbir in the lead role.It is said that Deepika has turned a workaholic after parting ways with Ranbir. She used to divide time between her acting career and her boyfriend when she was seeing him but now, the story has changed. She is now giving her everything to films.

Sonu Nigaam's anthem for Mumbai

On Wednesday, Sonu Nigaam unveiled a song he had composed in memory of the victims and heroes of the Mumbai 26/11 terror attack.Titled Ungli uthe to, koi bare to, kardegi bagawat Mumbai, the song has been sung by 15 singers like Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kunal Ganjawala, Kailash Kher, Roop Kumar Rathod and Hariharan.

The song features a few opening lines by Amitabh Bachchan.

Celebrity weddings are all the craze, what with the glitterati, the pomp and show, the paparazzi and the larger than life decor. But it's also true that more and more celebrities are now opting for quieter, more family oriented celebrations. Does that make them want to look any less than living gods and goddesses? Guess not!

It was a fairytale wedding, one that spoke volumes about the couple... how they wanted to make it nothing less than perfect and yet at the same time, not be pompous. The date was set, the venue was set, the wedding invites were out and all that was left to be seen was the bride in all her loveliness.

We all have seen Shilpa dressed as a bride umpteen times in films but one still wonders what the actors would look like when they get married for real. It was anybody's guess - would Shilpa go in for the larger than life ghagra choli affair, embroidered to the hilt, in gold and loud mesh of colours? Or would she keep it lowkey and revel in the natural glow of a bride-to-be?

23rd November revealed the mystery as Shilpa was received by her spouse Raj Kundra, not on a ghodi, but a chariot, in a royal sherwani, a Nikhil and Shantanu creation in maroon and gold. He arrived looking like a prince holding a kirpaan and sporting a kalgi on his turban, at the Khandala farmhouse of Shilpa's close friend Kiran Bawa. She looked every bit the bride, and not
a showbiz biggie, in a Tarun Tahiliani creation.

Shilpa belongs to the Bunt community of Mangaloreans. Carrying the tradition forward, she sported a brocade sari in burgundy and red with a gold zari border. In his truly signature style, Tarun gave the sari a truly heavy bridal look but kept it from looking too bling. The sari was well draped, studded with Swarovski pearls and studs and the beautiful pallu was neatly pleated on the shoulder with a jewelled brooch, again typical Tarun.

The sari was accompanied with an almost backless choli with a plunging neckline which Shilpa accentuated with a heavy jadau necklace with a drop pendant. An equally bewitching kundan kamarband and kalgi shaped bajuband gave Shilpa a very traditional bejewelled bride look that she carried with style and smile and looked nothing less than an Indian princess, a look that is the prerogative of every bride. Katrina is one of the most sensuous looking girl - Priyadarshan interview

Priyadarshan is not known for going overtly gaga about his films. However, when it comes to De Dana Dan, he is taking a strong stand in support of the film. Extremely content with the way the film has shaped up, Priyarashan is also happy with the fact that De Dana Dan targets family audiences, is free of any double entendres and doesn't underestimate its audiences.

With the film being a few hours away from release, Priyadarshan talks to us about the originality of De Dana Dan, his love for Akshay and of course the much-in-news rain dance featuring Katrina Kaif.


You have never sounded so gung ho about a film of yours?
And that's because I can never recreate the kind of ultimate confusion that you would see in the film. It is one of the funniest comedies that I have made and everything has fitted in just right. Yes, I am quite positive about its prospects; more so because we are targeting family audiences with De Dana Dan.


In that case, why a soaked Katrina in a rain dance? I don't remember the last time when we saw a rain love song in a film of yours. Did you ever feel that it was a compromise of sorts since otherwise your film is a complete laugh entertainer?
See, the whole intention of the movie is an entertainer so why not let all segments of audiences be happy? Let's admit it; Katrina is one of the most sensuous looking girls in the industry today. The idea is to exploit this factor but in a nice way. As long as something like shooting a rain song is done aesthetically, nothing looks vulgar.

But then there is always that thin line, right?
Yes, there is a thin line that crosses vulgarity, which makes it further interesting to shoot a song correctly. Moreover, I didn't really think much about the song making news in this way. The film is a laugh entertainer and there lies its core strength.

In fact I remember that at one point of time in your career, you were not too inclined towards incorporating 'item songs' in your films. Like in Hera Pheri, you led a tirade against producer Firoz Nadiadwala since he incorporated songs like 'Jab Bhi Koi Haseena' and 'Tun Tunak Tun' at the last minute.And you would also remember that the songs were removed from the prints within few days itself. They never fitted into the narrative. See, most of the times, I don't push a song into the narrative for the sake of it. Even in Hera Pheri, the songs were added without my permission. I was upset with the decision and hadn't even shot them. I have always believed that all my songs have to be in flow of the film; only then can they be successful.

Coming to your choice of actors, for a movie which is entirely made of dozens of characters, didn't you feel that adding in a Katrina Kaif would be a distraction since audiences may start expecting a lot more of her as well?
No I didn't, because Katrina isn't there just for the sake of it. She is also playing an important element in the film, just as is the case with Akshay, Paresh, Suniel or so many other characters in the film. When you see the film, you would realise that every character misunderstands another character and is running around with an agenda of his own. Moreover, there is enough romance in the film as well which makes Katrina's presence important.

How about Akshay Kumar? At the end of the day, despite so many characters, isn't he the pivotal element in De Dana Dan?
Whether it is Bhagam Bhag or the original Hera Pheri, the most important person in the narrative is Akshay. And then other characters make it more and more hilarious. Also, without Akshay, we cannot afford to make a big film like De Dana Dan. But does roping him in and in turn making a big film suffice? Certainly not. We have to look at the script and can't really
depend upon the star. Finally people have to watch the film and they will be merciless enough to reject it if the movie is not going as per their expectations. Yes, Akshay is a crowd puller but post that, it is the film in entirety that does the talking.

One wonders though if due to heavy weight presence of Akshay, Suniel, Paresh and Katrina, whether Neha Dhupia and Sameera Reddy would lose out...
You can't take them out of the narrative at all. It is because of characters like the one they enact that the entire confusion is created. In fact they enhance the confusion to great levels. When I look back, I feel that I have shot some of my best situations in De Dana Dan. You can't really predict the film. It's a complete comedy of poverty.

Comedy of poverty? Something that has been your strength over the years? I remember Malamaal Weekly, Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera, Hera Pheri, Billu, Hungama and many other films of yours having poverty as a central element.That's true, because poverty is one element that is felt strongly by the masses. They can relate to it. In De Dana Dan too, e have got looserish characters like the ones played by Akshay and Suniel. Their girlfriends are super rich but these two men don't have a single penny of their own. Like any other looser, they have nothing to loose and due to this very comfort feel, they end up committing an innocent crime. They turn kidnappers.

Lastly, is De Dana Dan a remake?
Fortunately it is not (laughs). Just like the way one of my favourite films, Malamaal Weekly wasn't a remake. These things don't matter eventually. What finally matters is that people should enjoy the film and producer should make his money.

Timmy and Eesha exchange rings

Timmy and Eesha have been dating since the past one year and are all set to tie the knot on November 29th, Sunday. Eesha and Timmy met through mutual friends Preity Zinta and Leena Mogre at a party last year. Eesha had only just gotten out of a tumultuous relationship with small-time actor Inder Kumar, who was a recurring alcoholic. Not many will remember that they
debuted together in the movie Ek Tha Dil Ek Thi Dhadkan in 1997. Timmy, on the other hand, had a string of past relationships with women, including Australian model Tania Xaetta, of the Salaam Namastey fame, and a model named Jasmine.

However, Eesha and Timmy found a long-time commitment in each other and after a couple of ups and downs, decided to get ahead with their nuptials.The pre-wedding bash took place a few days ago with the theme of Ken and Barbie, and many of the B-town folk and city
socialites made their presence felt at the venue. A source present at the events reveals, “Surprisingly, Eesha and Timmy were probably the only ones who wore their clothes according to the theme; the others found it too childish and amateurish.

The ngagement, on the other hand, was more of a sophisticated and intimate affair, held at the Narang residence in Bandra. The guest list included Timmy’s and Eesha's closest family and friends. Timmy’s sister Ramona was present with her husband, businessman Bruno Rodella, and their twins. Timmy looked handsome in his pink sherwani, which complimented Eesha’s beautiful Anita Dongre outfit. The engagement was followed by a Mata Ki Chowki in the house.”

Eesha has only Ramgopal Verma's Shabari lined up for 2010. Seems like she will take a long break from films, since Shabari has been lying in the cans for over a year now.

Ranvir and Konkona will not marry

Going strong since the past 4 years, Ranvir and Konkona have had their share of ups and downs that of a regular couple, but the news of them calling off their wedding did come as a surprise to many. Both Ranvir and Konkona make sure to spend as much as time with each other and are present at each other’s shoots also. However, Ranvir, who is known for his temperamental
behaviour, doesn’t think twice before blasting off at Konkona in public, leaving her distraught for days, says a source close to the couple.

“Ranvir and Konkona have had their ups and downs, and Konkona is the one who overlooks the relationship hiccups. She has gotten used to his temperamental behaviour, but it can surely miff the people around them. I remember, during a party, when Ranvir got completely sloshed and misbehaved with Konkona, and it surprised us that she simply let it go. So, it doesn’t come
as much of a surprise to us that they are finally rethinking their decision of getting married.”

They have purchased a huge combined apartment in Malad, where the couple live together. Reports from the complex have not been very complimentary. A source living in the same complex has spotted them together quite often in the elevator and says that they aren't very civil when they are together in a private space, as they seem to be bickering about small things, even as trivial as how the car is parked in the basement.

However, at the same time, another source rubbishes the break-up rumours, saying, “That’s untrue; the reason the December wedding has been postponed is because Ranvir’s entire family stays in the U.S and it is difficult for all of them to make their presence felt in Mumbai. They are now planning on a small family reception there first and then a get-together of their
friends and relatives here. Both of them had been busy with their films, and now, they need more time to sort out the details of the wedding.” Ranvir and Konkona have always been very private about their personal life, and it came to no surprise to us when they refused to comment on the matter.
